Drop Target Server When MSX Server Gone
were forced to restore a copy of msdb from over a year ago.
(I had to put the database back together again like Humpty Dumpty)
My problem is that there are several jobs that were pushed from an MSX
server that no longer exists.
I can't delete them - it tells me to go to the MSX server.
Any suggestions?

Defect target server from master.
Enlist again, and assign jobs to target.
Or
Delete jobssteps and jobs from msdb.dbo.sysjobsteps,
msdb.dbo.sysjobschedules and msdb.dbo.sysjobs.

This worked. The other solution won't work because it won't let you change
anything on the target server - only on the master, which doesn't exist.
This worked wonderfully, though. Thanks.

Drives missing from requester...how come ?
I'm trying to attach to a database that's stored in my D: partition on my disk. The disk has partitions C: D: E: F:
But when I choose "Attach", and open the requester to select the database-file, only drives C: and E: are shown.
All other programs lists the partitions right.
Where have D: and F: gone to ?
YOu will only see fixed drives of the server, so if you are remote administering the server, you won′t see the local drives in the folder dialog.HTH, Jens K. Sü?meyer.

All partitions are on the same physical disk. Why isn't E: also hidden then ?
And how can I be able to use drive D: ? The drives are still hidden either if I administer the server by Remote Desktop, or if I work directly on the computer.
|||My guess is that this is a permissions issue. SQL Express runs in the context of Network Service, which is a limited user account. Check the NTFS permissions on your other drives and determine if the Network Service account has appropriate permissions.

Drive space for db and log backups
Can anyone tell me what is the ideal free space on a disk to allow for db
and log backups on a Full Recovery Model? My db is 4GB, and my log is 2.5GB.
How much free space should I keep to safely run regular backups?

None.
Backups should not be stored on the same machine, much less the same disks,
as your primary data store. Decide on your disaster recovery plan,
calculate how many backups you need to make it bulletproof, and then buy
disk space accordingly. Backup storage space doesn't have to be enterprise
grade stuff, but it should be reasonable reliable and fault tolerant.

into standby mode. There must be room for the standby file, but you can
